Hockey Tour – Case Study

BANBRIDGE HOCKEY ACADEMY, NETHERLANDS HOCKEY TOUR

The Brief

Touring Sport was approached to organise a once-in-a-lifetime hockey tour to the Netherlands for three teams: U18, U15 and U13, comprising a total of 52 players and staff.

The aim was to combine high-quality international hockey, player development and the unique opportunity to experience the excitement of the Hockey World Cup Finals.

The Challenge

The tour programme needed to deliver a busy and varied itinerary that catered for three different age groups while ensuring every aspect of the tour ran smoothly.

The brief included:

  • Two professional coaching sessions delivered by leading Dutch coaches
  • Six competitive fixtures against local Dutch hockey clubs
  • Dedicated coaching sessions for each team
  • Two days attending the Hockey World Cup Finals
  • The opportunity to watch six international matches
  • Attendance at the opening ceremony
  • The chance to see the Netherlands, England and New Zealand men’s and women’s international teams in action

Alongside the hockey programme, Touring Sport was responsible for arranging all flights, accommodation, coach transfers and meals, as well as providing ongoing support to the group throughout the tour.

Working closely with our network of hockey contacts in the Netherlands, Touring Sport created a fully managed itinerary designed to give the players the perfect balance of competitive hockey, professional coaching and unforgettable international sporting experiences.

Every element of the tour was carefully coordinated, from travel and accommodation through to fixtures, coaching sessions, venue access and match-day arrangements.

The group also benefited from full support throughout their time in the Netherlands, allowing the teachers and coaches to focus on their players and enjoy the experience.

The Outcome

The tour ran to schedule, with all elements of the original brief successfully delivered.

The quality of the professional coaching sessions, competitive fixtures and sporting venues visited surpassed expectations, providing the players with an outstanding development opportunity both on and off the pitch.

The opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the Hockey World Cup, attend the opening ceremony and watch some of the world’s leading international teams in action added another dimension to what was an unforgettable tour.
